The Great War He would be going home And he would be coming back To be with those that loved him / But somehow death had slipped through a crack And very quickly found him / It was then, in that moment of remembering All the teachings that he believed had made him free / In truth, were his prison, his chains, and tragic destiny / Within his last breath, he smelled the smell of turtles And lay facing the night sky / Where under a star Marched a world at war /. This same war, that began at the beginning And will last to the very end / The war that men alone cannot hope to win / This is the great war Where the perpetrators are never revealed And their true identities surreptitiously sealed / A masked war, where both sides are losers And all are brought forth and condemned by false accusers / This is the war of pride So arrogant and careless Self centered and marched By envy and malice / A war of deceit and lies In which the clever one lives And the innocent dies / This is a war not over And yet a war not lost Where evil angels count the profits And humanity counts the cost /. Poem by sammoore i had forgotten Monet that day on the bay when the sky and sea disappeared and earth and island became clouds / and mixed with the galaxies /. i stood tranced / my hand resting lightly on the handrail of reality / until my mind broke through the paint and brushstroke and i saw again / and remembered Monet's water lillies floating on the glorious face of the universe |
