Grandmothers
"Dedicated to all grandmothers, whose wisdom, courage and love have paved the path for future generations. Such honor flows from their ways as each path creates a golden web of Light across this earth, and like shooting stars across the universe. This page contains grandmothers who have opened doorways by daring to step and to create what they held in their hearts. Many blessings to all grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and daughters as we celebrate the million grandmother walk across the world on August 20, 2005. Namaste and many blessings of heart...." "You've accomplished many things, all because in life, you dared and won your wings. Long ago, your wings took flight, never in darkness being lost, for you saw the path with inner sight. Your faith and freedom shall live, for in your life, you have never believed in Never." Written by eighth grader, Shondel to Eleanor Williams ![]() painting by Bear ELEANOR WILLIAMS - Eleanor was the first black woman air traffic controller, she has appeared in Who's Who in America and raised seven children. Her hands always reaching back to help those that followed to achieve what they saw before them in life. She has the courage to bring all that she is to the world, her vision is uniquely beautiful, a ray of Light in the rainbow of all essence of being. Patricia has opened the door of healing to all realms: human, animal, earhly, and celestial through her heart of hearts. SILVERSONG - Silversong is an artist of Spirit, and founder of Honor Day, a national holiday for Native Americans. As a child, Silversong held the vision of a day to honor and celebrate her people, the ancient Ones, and the ways of Oneness that the First Nation brings to this earth. Now that dream is a reality birthing, as she opens the door of honor, allowing the world to bring honor in remembrance, education and sharing from the hearts of all tribes, all nations under the sun. As a visionary of truth, and Love, Silversong has created a million grandmother walk to take place on August 20, 2005, across the world. All grandmothers will stand tall together, to allow their wisdom to flow, and their hearts to shine on the paths of all people, all ways. For more information on Honor Day, go to website. The Ancient One I stood silently in the corner of the room listening to the feeble cries of the newborn baby as the doctors huddled over him, a bright light shone down on all of them as if to bless this moment of birth with awareness and clarity. " Is he alright? " resounded as a thought within me, while the words of one doctor echoed in the large room, " Does grandma want to hold her grandson? " I looked behind me to see who he was talking to, suddenly I realized that I was grandma and that this was my grandson that brought so much attention. In this moment, I stepped up into a new level of being as a grandparent, such tender pride as my arms opened to take in this warm bundle of tightly wrapped life. My finger softly touched the innocent pure face that nestled deep within the blanket, a smile came to my lips as I recognized the facial features of Hathor. Those almond eyes, little ears, oblong face yet beyond this special essence, I could hear the doctor's words that gave my grandson a unique place in this world, " Tommy has " Down's Syndrome" , he shows all the characteristics." As the words floated around us, Tommy opened his big beautiful blue eyes, so full of wisdom, so ancient, the eyes of one that had traveled so far to be here now, in my arms. His gaze seemed to transcend the need for verbal communication, all that I knew was that this one was a teacher, and I was the student, if I was willing. As the years have passed, my grandson, Tommy, has taught me what it is to be in the moment. He has taught me to let go of the past, and not to worry about the future, for it does not exist. If Tommy hurts himself, he feels and expresses the pain fully, yet in a few minutes, he lets go as his memory allows all pain to fade into nothingness. Tommy experiences joy in the moment, when he sees you, his whole body erupts into a fountain of happiness. When he plays music with a drum or rattle, his whole body becomes the instrument. There is never half way or reservations with Tommy, he is fully present in every moment. He wants to share his joy, if he sees that you are sad, he will mimic your frown, then he will come closer with a big smile and hug you tightly, words of comfort whispered into your ear are only understood by him, although the essence brings light to your heart. Then as the shamanic chant transcends into ancient healing tones vibrating from deep within Tommy's soul flowing into your soul, there is an understanding of the power of Hathor sound, so free, so full, so easy a celebration of the oneness. Tommy is not afraid, at times I have watched him try to fly from play equipment, climbing to all heights and giggle at the gasps of fear from others as they watch, and try to save him. He does not understand the game of competiveness, social ladder, nor the need of acceptance. All that Tommy knows is that he is happy, you are happy, and in this moment, there is laughter, love and a hug. There is a stubbornness which arises and Tommy's lip hangs low when he doesn't understand limitations, or if he doesn't get what he wants. Yet Tommy uses these qualities to keep propelling himself amidst a society that tells him that he can not succeed, that he is limited in possibilities because he is special. My friend's grandson, Rick, was just diagnosed with Autism, there was a sadness felt about what the future may be beyond what was expected. As she spoke of his specialness, I began to see the gifts that he would bring, Rick exists deep within, in silence. In that center place, he is detached yet feels with heightened sensitivity of touch, and sound. Rick is able to focus on the task at hand, to be within his own journey, allowing all around him that same freedom to be in the moment, completely. He exists in a place where the heart knows no fear, yet this heart reaches beyond the physical and touches all in a pure way, the essence of oneness. Rick and Tommy have a sensitivity to the energies of this realm in a way that so many seek to find within the healing arts, through meditation, yoga, or other spiritual practices. It is not easy for them to exist in this physical realm as special beings of Light, yet what an honor to be taught by these great ones of heart. As I write this now, I can feel Tommy's wise gaze upon me, his gentle hand caressing my brow, and the song of the ancients softly vibrating from deep within his small body, touching me beyond time and space, to this moment, to this now. The special children that are birthing onto this planet come in so many varieties and with glorious gifts of heart. There are the psychic, the artistic, the intellectual, and then......the ancient ones. The ones like Rick and Tommy that have agreed to come to this earth amidst impossible odds, to teach that I M possible. They are overlooked as we try to push them into boxes and labels, to wrap them in sorrow, waiting for us to finally open and allow their gifts to be received. They are the open hearts, forever flowing with unconditional love beyond the limitations of society and fear. As spiritual beings, we seek the knowing in books, workshops, tools and methods which will teach us how to be in the moment, in the center of an open heart, fearless within the love of the one, the all that is. If only for a moment, we could stop and look into the eyes, into the lives of these special children, for they are living what we seek to find, they are being the book that we study. To observe these spiritual qualities as they are taught by Rick and Tommy, it is to embrace all ways, to allow all hearts to be fully present, to celebrate every moment without judgement, expectation, doubt or fear. If we could step into this place for a moment, we would be able to experience the magic and wonder that these ancient ones are here to share with the world. To bring a remembrance of how it was before fear, before we forgot that we are joy, that we are peace, that we are Love. Namaste *
